Gulf of Mexico Restoration
In StructureSolver you can rapidly interpret horizons and faults. You do not need to do anything special to prepare a section for structural restoration. You simply click on a reference horizon to produce an instant restoration.
The reference horizon is flattened and the appropriate amount of slip is removed along each fault. Note the stratigraphic continuity that becomes apparent on restoration.
You can also restore "above and below" the reference horizon. This is structurally valid only if the faulting is entirely post-depositional, but is nevertheless a very useful visualization
Flattening is the default capability in most interpretation systems and is available as feature in StructureSolver for comparative purposes. Unfortunately simple flattening produces bad distortions around faults, which is exactly where you want to focus your attention!
