Version 7.0: Date of Release: February 2023
Summary of Major Changes
Version 7.0 is a major release including:
- A significant enhancement to the StructureSolver interface through the use of context menus and double left-click termination of appropriate interactive operations.
- Added capability to directly import seismic data in SEG-Y format.
- Added capability for text annotation
- The style of main menu bar has been improved, with icons showing which items are also available via a context menu selection.
- Many commonly used options are now available via context menu selection. If you are between operations you can move the cursor near an object shown in your workspace. The name and type of the object will be highlighted. Left-click will bring up a context menu selection of common operations that are appropriate to the object in its current state.
- Context menu selections allow you to operate on individual elements in your work space and thus are selective and immediate. In contrast, the parallel main menu selectios allow you to perform the same operation repetitively on multiple objects of the same type.
- By left-clicking in an open space within your workspace, you can bring up a workspace context menu that allows you to select common operations that apply to entire workspace.
- StructureSolver now responds to selective double left-clicking to terminate operations. Whereas right-clicking will cancel or exit an operation, double-left-clicking will make a final commit before exiting.
- All instruction bar messages have been updated to reflect context menu selections and double left-click operations.
- New Solution now contains an option to import an image from either either a 2D line or 3D cube that is in SEG-Y format.
- The operations for adding, deleting and editing scale bars have been moved to the Annotation Menu.
- This major menu grouping has been added, providing options for adding text, adding text to structural components, editing text, dragging text, copying and dragging text, and deleting text.
- Dynamic labels and instruction messages have been improved for drawing operations.
- Functions have been added for drawing circles, and drawing circles on structural components.
- The behavior of modify has been improved for certain modifications of faults with structural models. In previous versions it was possible in some circumstances to modify a fault in a manner that cause a non-reversible change to a structural model.
- Measure mode (toggled by hitting key M) has been implemented formodify and add points. This was previously available only in draw.
- Displaying horizon linkages and intersections now displays total horizon metrics as well as fault slips, throws and heaves. This feature makes it easy to assess interpretations for structural balance. You can now also examine multiple horizons after a single menu selection.
- Changing the state of stratigraphic color fill is now an undoable or redoable operation.
- The Help documentation has been extensively updated to reflect the enhancements in this version.
- The StructureSolver website and support page now open in your default browser rather than in a custom browser attached to the StructureSolver application.
- The examples shown in the help documentation for some functions still display the StructureSolverinterface from previous versions of StructureSolver. In particular, the documentation examples may show an older version of the menu bar and instruction bar messages that do not mention double left-click operations. However, the documentation examples have been updated in every case where using old examples might cause confusion.
- The Flexera license management software used in StructureSolver licensing has been upgraded from Version 11.14.2 to the latest Version 11.19.2, which has enhanced security. An updated license daemon "strsolv.exe" will be provided to IT administrators who use server-based licensing.
