Version 4.2 Release Notes

Version 4.2: Date of Release: April 2020

Summary of Major Changes

Minor Bug Fix: September 2020

  • We fixed a bug for the Petrel Plugin whereby Update Petrel from StructureSolver failed under cetain circumstances where RegularHeightFieldSurfaces were inadequately defined in a Petrel project.

Version 5.0 Release Notes

Version 5.0: Date of Release: April 2021

Summary of Major Changes

Version 5.0 is a major release with many new features enabling much more sophisticated retrodeformation and deformation of geological structures.

  • Many incremental improvements to interface features.
  • When curve segments are attached to a structural component, the component name is identified in instructions, dynamic labels and dialogs.
  • The main menu items have been reordered to reflect common workflow priorities.

Display Menu

  • Locate and measure now displays true section coordinates within structural components.
  • You can now add, delete and edit scale bars. The scale bars are extremely easy to configure.

Interpret Menu

Structural Component Menu

  • The create and drag structural component function has been imrproved so that are attached curves are intelligently trimmed, which greatly facilitates workflow.
  • Internal data structures were added to maintain an inheritance hierarchy for structural components, with full history of geometric transformation. This facilitates many complex, geologically meaningful workflows.  Among other capabilities you can now create structural components out of a combination of components, which enables multiphase retrodeformation.
  • Automatic naming of structural components has been simplified.
  • Edit Structural Component Info interactively identifies parents and children of structural components.  Automatically generated notes have been improved.
  • You can now create a new section from a structural component. This a more useful function than copy shown structural components to new workspace, which it supersedes.

Restore and Transform Menu

  • You can now add projected horizons and transverse restoration markers using flexural slip, vertical shear or inclined shear. These capabilities are useful during interpretation and can help you evaluate the reliability of restorations.
  • Transforming to target is a major new capability that can be employed in a variety of flexible ways to achieve restoration, partial restoration or forward structural evolution of a section or structural component.
  • You can now stretch and shear structural components to retrodeform or model internal strain.

Transfer Curves Menu

Help Menu

  • All new features have been comprehensively documented.
  • New material has been added explaining restoration algorithm details in greater detail than in previous versions.
