Version 2.0: Date of Release: April 2015
Summary of Major Changes
- This is a major upgrade with the addition of strain modeling and linked structural modeling.
- Numerous improvements were made to items in the Curves Menu and the ability to hide or show curve categories was added.
- The ability to Drag Curve Segments and Copy and Drag Curve Segments was added.
- The dynamic labels giving tool tip advice for interactive functions are all enhanced.
Detailed Description of Changes
- The Color Dialog which is invoked in a variety of functions has been enhanced to allow custom colors to be defined and automatically saved for use in future sessions.
- Save for Illustrator or Inkscape: The name of this function was changed from Save Scalable Vector Graphics to make the purpose of the menu item more obvious. In previous versions, the image was not correctly displaying in Adobe Illustrator (it was OK in Inkscape). This bug was fixed. Also the link from the SVG file to the corresponding image file was made relative so that the files can be easily moved to another folder location.
- Locate and Measure: Measurement functionality (with Shift key constraint) added to previous Locate function.
- New Curve Category: Horizon age has been added as an attribute for horizon. This attribute will be used quantitatively in future versions.
- Set Active Curve Category: The Select Active Curve Category dialog has been enhanced.
- Redefine Curve Category: Two previous dialogs have been combined into a single dialog that lets you redefined multiple curves categories much more easily.
- Hide or Show Curve Categories: This new function allows you to hide or show horizons, faults and markers on an individual basis. Changes are instantly applied to all relevant displays.
- Delete Curve Category: The dialog has been redesigned to be more convenient.
- Delete All Curve Categories: The dialog has been upgraded to alert you if there are hidden curve categories.
- The dynamic label displays for all Interpret functions have been enhanced to provide "Move to" instructions if you are more than 20 pixels away from a selectable item, as in the following example for Modify.
- Draw: Measure mode can be toggled using the "M" key and drawing can be constrained to be horizontal or vertical by holding down the Shift key.
- Identify: The dynamic display has been enhanced to display distance along curve and local dip.
- Split or Trim: Selecting a split or trim point within five pixels of a curve end point is now equivalent to selecting the end point. This prevents a Split or Trim operation from producing a tiny near-invisible curve segment.
- Join Curve Segments: The dynamic labels displayed during this operation have been improved.
- Drag Curve Segment: This new function allows you drag a fault, horizon or marker curve segment.
- Copy and Drag Curve Segment: This new function allows you to copy and drag a fault, horizon or marker curve segment.
- Delete All Curve Segments: The dialog has been upgraded to alert you if there are hidden curve categories.
- The dynamic label displays for all Structural Modeling functions have been enhanced to provide "Move to" instructions if you are more than 20 pixels away from a selectable item, as in the following example for Stretch Overlying Layers.
- Add Structural Surface to Fault: This function was improved by making the New Surface dialog persistent while you are adding one or more surfaces. The surface names are automatically incremented. You can either accept the surface attributes as defined or modify them as you add successive surfaces. Surface age has also been added as an attribute.
- Identify Surface: The dynamic display has been enhanced to local dip of the surface.
- Show Displacement: This function has been moved to the Advanced Modeling Menu.
- This new menu grouping provides a new set of advanced functions for working with structural model. These functions let you analyze strain and displacement in structural models, work with multiple linked compatible structural models, and convert structural surfaces to horizons.
- Add Strain Ellipse to Surface: Interactively adds strain ellipses to any shown structural surface.
- Delete Strain Ellipse from Surface: Interactively deletes strain ellipses from structural surfaces.
- Delete All Shown Strain Ellipses: Deletes all shown strain ellipses from your interpretation.
- Identify Strain Ellipse: Interactively displays strain information for a show strain ellipse.
- Hide or Show Strain Ellipses: Switches the display of strain ellipses off or on for all shown structural surfaces.
- Hide or Show Strain Markers: Shows or hides strain markers for any shown structural surface. Strain markers let you easily visualize the progressive geometric deformation of structural surfaces.
- Show Strains for Surface: Displays the aggregate strains associated with structural surfaces.
- Show Displacement: This function, previously in the Structural Model Menu, lets you visualize the relative motion of rocks within the hangingwall of a modeled fault.
- Show or Hide Displacement Vectors for Model: Shows or hides displacement vectors for structural surfaces associated with shown structural models.
- Convert Surface to Horizon: Interactively converts surfaces in a structural model to footwall and hangingwall horizon segments.
- Animate Linked Models: Animate the linked structural development of two or more structural model forwards or backwards.
- Convert Linked Surfaces to Horizons: Converts linked surfaces in a set of linked structural models to footwall and hangingwall horizon segments.
- Displays Diagnostics for Linked Models: Displays diagnostics for linked structural models, letting you understand the configuration of your linked models, including any errors and warnings.
- The dynamic label displays for Restore, Flatten and Display Intersections have been enhanced to provide "Move to" instructions if you are more than 20 pixels away from a selectable item, as in the following example for Restore.
- Restore: Improved and expanded the quantitative information for the restoration that is displayed in the notes in Edit/Edit Solution Info.
- The dynamic label displays for Select Horizons for Area-Depth Graph, Control Limits for Area-Depth Graph, and Display Horizon Areas and Values been enhanced to provide "Move to" instructions if you are more than 20 pixels away from a selectable item, as in the following example for Select Horizons for Area-Depth Graph.
- Configure Area-Depth Graph: If you check the Use Dipping Detachment option, additional radio-button controls are provided to let you set the Type of Deformation if necessary.
- Control Limits for Area-Depth Graph: The Regional Limits for the Area-Depth Graph are now restricted to the spatial intersection of the horizontal limits for the included horizons, as opposed to the spatial union, which was the previous restriction. This has the effect that each included horizon must span from one regional limit to the other, at a minimum. In previous versions, Regional Limits could be extended beyond the spatial limits of one or more included horizons, which was deleterious, particularly for the Dipping Detachment method.
- Display Horizon Areas and Values: The menu name has been changed from Display Horizon Areas. If you are using the Fault Trajectory Method the dynamic display has been modified to show additional displacement components.
- The external .structx data format was updated to accommodate all new features in StructureSolver. Both forward and backward external data compatibility has been maintained for all versions. The Structural Model data format and the Area-Depth-Graph data format were modified to eliminate data elements that were previously written out, but not read back in. In a future version of StructureSolver we will add a comprehensive export option for derived values.
Miscellaneous:
- The Help system has been extensively updated to reflect all changes.
